Janette Carter passed away in January 2006. Her image has been added to those of A.P., Sara, and Maybelle around the Fold's stage.

The Fold changes a little bit each time. This trip we found 8 new rows of seats in the back, new retractable doors over the side openings, new entrances and concession areas, expanded "green room," and the image of Janette above.

The day of the show would have been Tommy Thompson's 69th birthday. Jessie Thompson Eustice and husband David honored her dad's memory by attending the show. You'll definitely want to read Jesse's account of the show and the memories of her dad from her experiences on the trip. This is but one of Jesse's Letters she has generously shared with this website over the years.

Notice the big camera's red and blue lights at the far left of the pic. Blue Ridge Public Television was filming for a documentary on Virginia's Crooked Road. Your photographers skipped some of our usual angles to stay out of their camera range. |
